TiCorn is an established performing artist of the Caribbean island Haiti. Her colorful career as professional singer / songwriter started 1978 with her first LP recording “Haiti”. Many music productions, concerts, live performances and music videos followed over the years. Besides interpreting traditional Haitian folk songs and her own ballads in Creole and English, she had the pleasure to work with renowned musicians and songwriters. Melodious tunes, beautiful lyrics, intricate rhythms, skillful guitar accompaniment and a warm, natural vocal “timbre” are gracefully combined to charm wherever she performs. As a faithful and loving representative of Haitian music TiCorn expresses in tunes of joy, laughter and sorrow the deeply poetic soul of a nation which never abandons hope ... TiCorn (Creole for “petite Cornelia” - Cornelia Schütt) was born 1953 to a German family, rooted in Haiti for several generations in the trading and shipping business. At the age of 12 she started playing the guitar and singing the songs that surrounded her. She spent her childhood in Cap Haitian, then was sent to Germany for further education. TiCorn est une des Artistes emblématique d’Haïti. Sa carrière de chanteuse compositeur est basée sur une connaissance particulière et très profonde de la musique Caraïbe . Son premier album “ Haïti” paru en 1978 est devenu au fil des ans un véritable evergreen . Depuis, de nombreux autres albums ont suivi , Cévolan, Ballades Caraïbes, Cap Haitien, In Labadee Bay en Anglais et le Live concert “Amitié” avec son ami le prodige Haïtien de la Guitare Amos Coulanges. TiCorn a aussi participé au fameux film de Rassoul Labuchin “Anita", elle a parue dans de nombreuses émissions de radio et télévision, filmé des vidéos dont certaines peuvent être vues sur youtube par exemple : http://www.youtube.com/user/VETOU55 Qu’il s'agisse des chansons traditionnelles aux rythmes complexes, de ses propres compositions comme Colibri, Cevolan, Timoun Soley, ou celles de ses paroliers favoris, J.C Martineau, Marcel O Gilles, Henri Célestin et bien d' autres, son timbre mélodieux inimitable ainsi que son interprétation particulière captivent l’audience quelle qu’elle soit. L’étendu de son répertoire est étonnant, interprété avec sa seule guitare ou avec un grand orchestre, il va du plus authentique folklore aux chants Vaudou en passant par le Calypso, à la chanson Française ou au Folk Américain. TiCorn ( petite Cornélia en Créole ) est née en 1953 d’une famille Allemande basée au Cap Haïtien depuis plusieurs générations . Elle commence à jouer de la guitare à l’âge de 12 ans et à chanter les chansons de son environnement. Elle passe la plupart de son enfance au Cap Haïtien puis est envoyée en Allemagne pour y compléter son éducation. TiCorn a toujours vécu entre Haïti et l’Europe ou elle habite encore tout en continuant à voyager dans de nombreux pays .
